Your Questions, Answered

  • Nepal is a destination for every season — the right time depends entirely on what you are hoping to experience.

For Himalayan visibility and comfortable trekking conditions, the two optimal windows are late February through April and August through early December. During these periods, skies tend to be clearer and temperatures across most regions are ideal for travel.

That said, many of our most memorable journeys happen outside these windows — during Nepal's extraordinary festival calendar, or in the quieter months when remote regions feel even more private and unhurried.

Every journey we design is timed around your preferences, your schedule and the kind of experience you are seeking. We will advise accordingly as part of your consultation.

  • For most private journeys, we recommend beginning the conversation at least 8–10 weeks before your intended travel dates. This allows sufficient time for permits, accommodation reservations in remote regions, domestic flight bookings and itinerary refinement without pressure.

For travel during peak periods — October, November, March and April — or for particularly complex multi-region itineraries, 6–9 months lead time is advisable.

That said, we have arranged private journeys for clients with shorter notice. If your timeline is tight, reach out and we will advise honestly on what is possible.

  • Yes. Many of our private itineraries combine two or more distinct regions — for example, beginning in Kathmandu's cultural heart before moving into the Annapurna highlands, or pairing a Mustang expedition with time in the Everest region.

We design multi-region journeys carefully, with considered pacing and logistics that ensure the experience feels seamless rather than rushed. All domestic flights, transfers and permits are arranged as part of the service.

  • Every journey is calibrated precisely to your preferences and physical comfort level — from fully relaxed cultural itineraries with minimal walking to high-altitude Himalayan treks and remote expeditions.

During your consultation, we will discuss this honestly and design an itinerary that matches your desired level of activity. There is no pressure to do more than you wish, and no compromise on the quality of the experience regardless of pace.

  • Strictly private. Nepal as a Local does not operate group tours, shared departures or fixed-route packages of any kind.

Every journey is designed exclusively for one client or one party at a time. This means your guide, your vehicle, your accommodations and your entire experience are never shared with other travellers. The pace, the route and every decision along the way are yours alone.

This is not a marketing distinction — it is the foundation of how we operate.

  • We begin with a short consultation (or coordination with a representative), followed by a tailored itinerary proposal. Refinements are made efficiently before confirming all arrangements.

  • Our community relationships and regional knowledge allow us to arrange experiences that are genuinely unavailable through standard operators:

    — Private meals with local families in remote Himalayan villages — Exclusive access to monasteries, temples and sacred sites — Private meetings with artisans, spiritual leaders and community elders — Helicopter arrivals and departures to remote locations — Sunrise access to viewpoints and sites before other visitors arrive — Private cooking experiences with local families — Immersive festival participation with community introduction

These are not staged performances. They are real relationships — built over years — that we are trusted to share with the right guests.

  • Every private journey includes:

    — Private, expert local guide for the duration of the journey

    — All in-country transportation (private vehicle, domestic flights where required)

    — Accommodation selected and confirmed to your standards

    — Every meals during tours excluding drinks

    — All curated experiences outlined in your itinerary — Permits and entry fees for all regions and sites visited

    — 24/7 personal support from Ashwin throughout your journey

    — Pre-departure briefing and detailed journey documentation

Pricing is presented with full transparency as part of your itinerary proposal — there are no hidden fees.

  • Most luxury Nepal operators work at volume — the same routes, the same lodges, the same curated "local" experiences repeated for dozens of clients each season.

Nepal as a Local operates differently. Ashwin was born and raised in Nepal and has spent his life building genuine relationships across the country's most extraordinary communities. Every journey is personally designed by Ashwin — not delegated to a booking system or a junior team member.

The result is access that cannot be purchased or replicated: the Nepal that exists beyond what any guidebook or group tour can reach.

  • Yes — and we do regularly.

Many of our enquiries come through personal assistants, executive assistants, family office managers and luxury travel advisors coordinating on behalf of their clients. We are experienced in working efficiently and discreetly within these arrangements.

If you are reaching out in a professional capacity, please introduce yourself as such. We will respond with whatever level of detail, documentation and discretion your situation requires.

  • With complete discretion. All enquiries, itineraries and client details are handled confidentially from the first message to the final departure. We do not share client information with third parties, and we do not reference client journeys publicly without explicit permission.

We understand that many of our clients value privacy as much as they value quality. Both are treated with equal seriousness.

  • None whatsoever. Your initial consultation is a conversation — obligation-free, confidential and entirely focused on understanding whether we are the right partner for your journey.

We would rather take time to understand what you are looking for and be honest if we are not the right fit, than rush an arrangement that does not serve you well.
