EXCLUSIVE NEPAL PHOTO TREKS WITH LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHER ANNA POLITOVA — ONE PARTY AT A TIME

THE EXPEDITION

There is a moment — just before first light — when the Himalayas hold their breath. The valley is still. The peaks are not yet visible. And then, slowly, Manaslu catches fire.

Most people see this in photographs. You will be the one behind the lens.

This is not a photography tour. There are no buses. No fixed schedules. No twenty strangers jostling for the same tripod position at sunrise.

Nepal as a Local × PhotoTreks is a private photography expedition through Nepal's most extraordinary landscapes — conceived for photographers who refuse to compromise on either the image or the experience.

Each expedition is led by Anna Politova, an acclaimed landscape and astrophotographer whose Himalayan work — from the Milky Way arcing over Ama Dablam to the windswept ridgelines of Lhotse — has earned recognition across international photography communities. On the ground, every detail is curated by Nepal as a Local, through trusted networks built across decades in Nepal's most remote communities.

You will photograph what most never reach. Dawn breaking over Tengboche Monastery. The Milky Way over a frozen Khumbu ridge. Intimate cultural moments inside homes and villages that no group tour will ever access. And between each frame — considered pacing, refined comfort, and a journey that feels unhurried, private, and entirely yours.

One private party per expedition. By application only.

Trip Leaders on Trail

Anna Politova

Spent eight years chasing light across thirty countries — from Patagonia's glaciers to Everest Base Camp, sleeping in deserts and climbing volcanoes. Mountains became my place of power. Now I create these journeys for fellow photographers.

Ashwin Osti

Was born in Nepal and raised between its mountains and communities. After decades building relationships across the most remote corners of the Himalayas, I founded Nepal as a Local — to share my country the way only someone from here can.

From the waterfalls of Jagat to the frozen stillness of Larkya La Pass at 5,100 metres, this expedition traces the Manaslu Circuit through landscapes most photographers never reach. You will shoot Manaslu's reflection in Pung Gyen Lakes at sunset, walk to the Tibetan border at Layung La, and photograph glacial lakes and Himalayan villages where the trail belongs to you alone. The journey begins and ends in Gorkha — in a community home, exchanging merch and stories with the people who made the path possible. One private party. By application only.

Nepal Photo Trek | Expedition III — Coming November 2026
$0.00

There is a place where the air thins, the light sharpens, and every photograph feels like it was taken on the edge of the world.

We have been there. We are going back.

In November 2026, Nepal as a Local × PhotoTreks will open applications for Expedition III — the highest, most remote, and most exclusive photography journey we have ever designed. The route is being scouted now. The logistics are being tested. The viewpoints are being mapped for light, season, and solitude.

We are not ready to say more. Not yet.

What we can tell you: it will be private. It will be unlike anything currently offered in Himalayan photography. And it will change the way you think about what is possible with a camera at altitude.

If the first two expeditions taught us anything, it is that the photographers who come to Nepal through this collaboration do not want a tour. They want a pursuit. This is the ultimate one.

One private party. Details released to registered applicants first.

What to Expect

  • Golden hour across the highest peaks on earth. Dawn light on Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Manaslu — from vantage points selected for composition, not convenience.

  • The Milky Way at altitude, with zero light pollution. Night sky sessions guided by Anna Politova at locations she has scouted across multiple Himalayan expeditions.

  • Intimate access inside monasteries, local homes, and village ceremonies. Moments made possible through relationships — not arrangements.

  • The markets, alleyways, and faces of Kathmandu and beyond. Guided walks through Nepal's ancient cities with a photographer's eye for light, texture, and story.

  • From Himalayan tahr on high ridges to birdlife in the Terai lowlands. Nature photography woven into the journey — never forced, always present.

  • Expeditions timed to Nepal's sacred calendar. Fire rituals, monastery ceremonies, and seasonal festivals — photographed from within, not from behind a barrier.

  • "What I love most is the flexibility. I can go at my own pace, and choose my own way to relax fully catered by the team.
